This is the first in a series of 3 webinars, delivered in partnership with ACRRM, funded by the Murray PHN. In this webinar delivered live on Wednesday 9th May 2018, General Practitioner Dr Kerry Hancock and Lung Foundation Australia's Judy Powell presented on approaches to identifying COPD patients early, and interpreting spirometry to make a diagnosis.

Objectives

  • Implement a COPD risk assessment using a standard checklist
  • Recognise the value of using a COPD screening device to identify those at higher risk of COPD
  • Recognise the role of spirometry to confirm a diagnosis of COPD
  • Describe the elements of a valid spirometry test
  • Explain and interpret spirometry results

Good overview, interesting statistics. Would benefit from discussing from differential diagnoses for those incorrectly diagnosed seen as the rates are higher than would be expected.
